Restroom Advertising the Niche Market

When you use traditional advertising, you are playing a “hit or miss” game. Even when you do extensive market research, part of your strategy is still left to chance. There is always the question of whether your target audience will happen across your advertisement.

However, when you utilize restroom advertising you can aim your message at distinct niches within the market. The most obvious groups to choose from are male and female. Why waste money advertising to the whole population when you can zone in on the specific gender that uses your product or service? Simply place your business’ ads in the restroom of your target gender, and you have successfully made your campaign exponentially more efficient — it’s just that simple.

The nature of restroom marketing opens up doors for humorous and memorable advertisements. But, everyone knows men and women often have different ideas about what is entertaining. The beauty of gender-specific ads is that even if you want to advertise to both males and females, you can create two separate campaigns meant to target each group. With a unique or amusing message you can get people talking, which will bring even more attention to your brand.

Besides giving you the opportunity to use gender-specific ads, restroom advertising can also help you focus on other segments of the market. For example, if you sell sports memorabilia you may choose to advertise in the restrooms of sports bars, athletic fields, and other areas sports fans frequent. This allows you to concentrate your message in places where it can reach your potential customers. When you use this method, your advertising dollars are used much more effectively since your ads are not wasted on people who have absolutely no interest in your product.

Depending on the venue, your restroom advertisements can also target ethnicities, income levels, and age groups. You can even focus on small niches such as families, music fans, shoppers, foodies, music buffs, and virtually any other type of consumer. You will be surprised how truly centering in on your target audience can increase your sales.

Some of the most popular places to display indoor ads are in nightclubs, bars, salons, retail stores, restaurants, and other high-traffic locations. If you choose to disperse your ads throughout a geographical area, your audience will encounter your message in more than one place on a daily basis. This flooding of your niche market will lead to greater retention and ultimately an increase in sales.

That’s indeed great! Yes. I strongly agree that restroom advertising is one of the best ways. I, myself, can’t survive the whole day without visiting the restroom to powder my nose (idiomatic expression). Whenever I use a restroom, I always check if it’s clean or not. If not, I report it to the admin. They need to maintain the cleanliness of the restroom. Sometimes, I am amazed by ads displayed on walls, usually about washing hands and hygiene. How much more if there are ads about new Iphone, new macbook, and so many others? They would really get the attention of the female and male groups. What a nice idea!

This is very informative. This gives a new insight about marketing and ad location. Placing ads in restrooms really targets two points. One is you will be able to place gender-targeted ads, and two, it will be a bit humorous/entertaining that will surely catch the interest of potential clients.

The idea of restroom advertising absolutely rocks the advertising world. Although, it has to be placed correctly to perfectly target the desired market. An example would be placing ads or banners right in front of each and everyone’s male urinals so that when men urinates, we don’t have a choice but to stare at the ads or the banner in front of us. For females, we can place ads or banners on the inside doors which has the same effect obviously leaving the females no choice but to stare and read the advertisement.

  • Aprilsong

I agree with what article. Targeting to the right people is very important in saving one’s money and take most use of your advertising budget. There is no needs to waste money on the ads which target all walks of and both genders of the population. Restroom advertising is really a good choice for those who are wanting to make more profits from their ads.

I think restroom ads are effective. People have the tendency of reading what they see when they’re using the urinals or the cubicles. It’s the only thing they can actually do at that moment. Their eyes don’t wander around too much and they try to focus it on just one area of the restroom. An ad placed in front of them would certainly get their attention.

That’s very true. Also, incorporating QR codes into the ads only increases the chances that a customer will be gained. Thanks for commenting, be sure to check back!
